MAINTENANCE SUPERINTENDENT

The Maintenance Superintendent reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and oversee the maintenance program including a competent team of Supervisors and trades personnel. Responsibilities include:
- Provide strong leadership skills with a focus on team building and motivational skills along with an ability to collaborate and build good working relationships across multiple departments and leadership levels
- Advance and support the training for the Maintenance Team to continuously improve their knowledge and skills to maintain an optimal operational focus
- Provide support to the Operations Team to ensure objectives in safety, quality, production and cost are being met
- Manage and develop relationships with supplier(s) and contractors
- Maintain and improve an effective maintenance program for the operations to ensure maximum equipment efficiency and reliability of mill equipment
- Ensure maintenance and repair budgets are prepared, met, and variances explained, with appropriate action taken as needed
- Ensure an effective maintenance system that meets ISO 9001 standards
Qualifications:
- Candidates must be a Professional Engineer (or Engineer-in-training) and a member or qualified for membership with Engineers Nova Scotia
- Minimum of five years’ experience supervising maintenance in an industrial environment. Experience in a sawmill / planermill complex preferred but not essential
- Demonstrated leadership with a drive for continuous improvement
